Restoration Collaborator/Volunteers
CAAHP is a 501 c(3) focused on creating experiences people who are systematically oppressed due to race, gender, ability, age, sexuality, minimum income and/or religion receives access to information, skills, and resources to advocate and heal themselves. Healing is a communal and individual journey that involves the intentional effort to heal from daily trauma. CAAHP creates experiences for people to learn and share knowledge about human centered, culturally proficient, and trauma informed advocacy and healing.
Community Advocacy and Healing Project has an experience that is culturally proficient and trauma focused remedy to natural or human made disasters for people of the global majority (replaces the term people of color) and communities systemically ostracized and oppressed (womayn, children, people able differently, people aging, people of the rainbow village) called Community Restoration Project. CRP aids in facilitating access to culturally proficient and trauma centered healing opportunities, information, resources, services, and supplies prior, during, and after natural or human created disasters, or any other unprecedented weather conditions with negatively affecting communities.
Community Restoration Project works within an anti-racist framework embracing and welcoming being uncomfortable while discussing race and its impact during a disaster relief. CRP was created because of the treatment of people of the global majority (replaces the term people of color) during the pasts natural disasters or the poisoning of water.
Organizations agreeing to assist collect donations, resources and supplies, and recruit volunteers agree to the terms and conditions in the MOU, and agree that their resources and supplies are culturally appropriate for populations consisting of people of African and Indigenous decent.
Organizations with the desire to provide resources to individuals within CRS' must illustrate they provide culturally appropriate resources for people of the global majority, specifically self-identifying womayn, children, people aging, people without homes, and others systemically oppressed. Organizations must select days in times conducive for a meeting regarding Restoration efforts.
Collaborators/Volunteers are asked to meet prior to beginning assisting those in need. Volunteer shifts are four hours long and we ask those that are willing to volunteer keep their scheduled shift time. During the midst of the storm there are many administrative needs that can be done virtually. Once the storm lands there will be needs for people to be physically present. Please be mindful and aware of what your time and lifestyle will allow you to commit to.
